LEARNING HOW TO DANCE THE RAIN
PLAY-BY: David Erickson
HAIR: Brown, straight, and on the shorter side of medium length. It naturally falls that way, and only needs to be straightened if he goes to bed with his hair wet.
EYES: Deep, dark, and brown of average size. He often describes them to be the color of dirt or tree bark.
BODY AND HEIGHT: He's skinny (thanks to his metabolism), but that doesn't mean he isn't muscular. Max enjoys a good fight, with or without his wand, so he does have muscle. You just don't see it well beneath his clothes. He also stands at 6’1”.
DISTINCT MARKINGS: There's a lip piercing and a tattoo on his shoulder. There's bound to be a few scars, though nothing major, at least for now.
CLOTHING/STYLE: Max's clothing includes mostly jeans. Why? Because everything goes with jeans. His jeans are generally of a darker shade, like midnight blue or the occasional black pair. His jeans are loose enough that they are comfortable, but not so loose to where he can't run without them falling down. They stay up fine without restricting him. His shirts are also on the darker side of the color wheel, like deep red or green. Black is common. Brown is rare. These shirts generally have some kind of snarky comment on them. The comments range from "I don't need your attitude, I have one of my own" and "Those people who thought Superman was a bird and a plane, what were they excited about?" to "Sarcastic comment loading" and "</sarcasm>". He also has shirts of a ruder quality, except those are more difficult to get away with, so he only wears them outside of school or work, or during the winter when he can cover them up with a jacket. If the shirt does not have some kind of comment on it, it probably just has a picture that he found cool, or maybe even the name of some band. As far as shoes go, he likes to wear converse or tennis shoes, either one has to be mostly (if not completely) black. No colorful socks, just regular white ones. Sometimes he wears necklaces, or perhaps (once in a blue moon) even a collar. One or two large wrist bands out of the seven that he owns. (These) Lust and anger are the most common ones to find on his wrists, though sometimes gluttony, greed, and sloth make an appearance, too. He doesn't care about how he looks (he wears what he likes and what is comfortable) so vanity never appears and envy doesn't either. (He can't be jealous of others if he doesn't care about them.)
ANYTHING ELSE: Well, his clothing changes when he's going to work. Instead of jeans he wears normal black pants with a black belt and pure black converse. He keeps his wristbands in his pocket while at work. His shirts will also be plain and of a lighter shade. If he was ever to wear a button up shirt, it would be to work.

WE WERE HOLDING BACK THE FLOOD
LIKES:
- Max enjoys being in charge. It's why he tends to not do anything in groups of people, and if he does, those groups are small and must follow his command, or he will leave them behind and move on.
- The night hours. He's been known to get up in the middle of the night just to go sit by a window and stare at the stars. Or he's just taking in how different the world looks without all the sunlight. Or he's just thinking. Whatever he's doing, he likes the night.
- His paycheck. It is the most wonderful thing in the world because, you know what, he actually worked for that. He put his time and effort into earning that there cash and no one can say that it's not his. Plus, he can buy stuff with it. Stuff he needs, stuff he wants... Stuff he doesn't need or want if he really felt like it.... Yeah, paychecks are wonderful, even if it's not the largest amount of money out there.
- Working at Florish & Blotts. One, because of the paycheck. Two, it's quiet and he can get schoolwork done. Three, he doesn't do anything particularly difficult since he only works part time. Four, there are never a lot of people (outside of authors signing books).
- Dark Arts, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and potions. Dark Arts so he can get revenge. Defense Against the Dark Arts so he can defend himself. Potions... Because that's just something he likes to do. Mix and stir and add things and come up with bits of liquid that can do so many useful things!
- His black cat, Sergio. Hogwarts said that he needed a cat, bat, rat, or owl. He didn't want a flying ball of guano, he didn't see the point of a rat, and he wasn't going to be sending letters to anyone so he didn't need an owl. Hello kitty cat. At least someone is happy to see him.
- Max's life runs off two things. Anger and sex. Though he can't really 'like' being angry, he can sure like the latter of the two.
DISLIKES:
- Short hair. It doesn't matter if it's on a guy or a girl, he does not like it. As far as he's concerned, ears and foreheads should be covered at all times. Those are the minimum. Longer hair is best. He hates that people cut their hair short, and that he doesn't look good (at least not to himself) with longer hair.
- Everyone, seriously everyone. Max doesn't even like his fellow Slytherins. Yeah, sure, he listens to the teachers because he really is interested in knowing all the magic he can know, but he doesn't actually like them. Students? Forget about it. The only way he's going to be stuck around someone is if there is not escape that he can see or make.
- His father. The dislike he harbors for his father borderlines on hatred.
- There are times he dislikes his mother, too. Mostly because he feels abandoned by her
- Things with no meaning. Assignments, words, actions... They should all have a meaning. Assignments shouldn't be busy work, they should be practice. People shouldn't talk just to say things they won't remember in the next five minutes, they should be giving or receiving some kind of information. Something beneficial to learning or to entertainment (or cussing someone out). Actions should be practicing spells, charms, hexes... walking, breathing, eating, flipping off someone who pissed you off, punching them in the face, practicing your magical hexes or charms on them... making potions... Something with a reason behind it.
- People touching his things. "No! That's mine! You have yours! This is my clothes, my bed, my shit, my cat! It can't benefit you any better than your own shit, so keep the hell out of my stuff! God damn!" (It is the quickest way to piss him off, messing around and moving his things. It is a major pet peeve.)
STRENGTHS:
- Dedicated/Determined. He wants what he wants and he'll work his ass off to get it.
- Independent. He doesn't need anyone, so he won't fall if someone doesn't take care of him.
- Relative neutrality. He does what's best for him, without really caring how it will affect others. He considers that a strength.
WEAKNESSES:
- Stubborn. If he's dedicated, then he's stubborn, and he might not play fair to get what he wants if the pros outweigh the cons. This can get him into some serious trouble.
- Impulsive. If he feels the urge to punch a guy in the face, he'll probably take it.
- Cold hearted. That girl with the crush? She can stick around as long as she performs some kind of use. As soon as she stops, well. She can pack her bags and say goodbye.
PRIORITIES:
- His biggest priority is proving to the world that he doesn't need it or anyone in it, including his father or his mother. He doesn't need friends, family, love, happiness, luck, joy, or pain. Though pain is allowed to be in his life because "It is impossible to get stronger, in any way, shape or form, without pain." Joy is also allowed if he feels like he's accomplished something that help benefit him.
- His job. If he is asked to come in and work, he will fit homework into left over time. His job is the most important thing he could be doing if it is what he is supposed to be doing. He will not skip work, even if he would skip school. (The only reason he doesn't skip school is because he needs to learn this stuff.)
- Well... Nothing else really ranks as a priority... So... Taking care of Sergio?
BOGGART:
- Love. Not the girl-with-the-crush-on-him-but-he-doesn't-like-her-back type of love. Like holy-crap-this-is-the-real-deal type of love. The girl with the crush? Awesome. She'll listen to whatever he says and maybe be useful, if he can stand her. The real deal? That's supposed to be life changing. It doesn't mean he doesn't want love, it just means he's scared to death of it.
- Failing. He's afraid of actually ending up the worthless failure that his father believes him to be. Afraid of not being able to make it once he leaves school to step out into 'The Real World'.
- Loss. His mother abandoned him to his father and he personally know any of the rest of his family. He lost her, and he was always loosing his muggle friends because father not wanting his pure blood son to have muggle friends (children of the neighbors and the only friends he could have, since he was home schooled) .
ERISED:
- He's really not as bad as he seems, and while it won't stop him from being a total ass, he really does hope that someone will try and look past everything he does to the heart he's got buried in the ruins of his soul.
VERITASERUM:
- His greatest secret would have to be that he hates where he is and he hates what he's become. He is his own worst enemy, even though he acts like he's better than everyone else.
PATRONUS:
His patronus is that of a Kelpie. (A shape shifting water demon who's original form is that of a large black horse with a dark purple mane and tail. The thing that sets it apart from a normal horse is the slitted, red eyes and the pointed teeth.)
Max's best memory is that of a Christmas morning from ages past. A Christmas morning that was quiet and peaceful. Max was just a small child, in his room. He crawled out of bed to look out his window and was greeted with a world blanketed in white. He'd run out of his room into the arms of his mother. His father hadn't been able to come home due to a snow storm. That morning, his mother and him had pancakes, eggs, bacon, and hot chocolate for breakfast. They'd both joked and laughed. It was the first time it had really felt like Christmas in the house. Max had gotten a secret present from his mom - a small lavender unicorn plush toy. After presents were opened, his mother sat with him and they colored in coloring books by the fire.
PENSIEVE:
Several years after his best memory, his father came home drunk and told Max, "You were a mistake! A waste of time! Of Money! You're nothing but a pussy, just like your mother, except worse! You don't even know how you're worse, do you? Well I'll tell you! You're worse because you are such a failure, such a worthless piece of shit that even your own mother couldn't stand the sight of you and left!"
PERSONALITY OVERVIEW:
Max is violent. He doesn't care if he's fighting a person with his words, his wand, his fists, or any nearby object that can be used as a weapon of opportunity. His goal is to either beat you to the point that you won't think of messing with him again, or breaking your spirit to the point that you cry and never want to see him again. If someone comes looking to Max for comfort, he won't even sugar coat his thoughts and he'll probably make that person feel stupid. His comfort line is "Suck it up and deal" because there really is no point in crying over anything. If something has to get done, it has to get done, and chances are that he's got something that has to get done and all that person is doing is wasting his time. All people do is weigh him down and hold him back, as far as he's concerned.
But... Max isn't a bad guy. All that up there? That's not because Max is a cruel, heartless being. (Even if he is pretty much a cruel heartless being.) It's because he's hurt. His mother abandoned him to a father that didn't love him and now he's lashing out and pushing everyone away so it can't happen again. He can't be completely heartless, because he cares about his cat, he's just afraid to be hurt again. So he built up this wall and taught himself to disconnect himself and his emotions from others. Sure, there is layer upon layer of walls around himself, and there are even more walls built around his heart. Sure, he's a tough cookie, maybe even a burnt one. But underneath all that black, charcoal tasting, outer layer, there's a super sweet, soft inner layer that simply needs to be given (and to take) a chance.

THEY SAID WE’D NEVER DANCE AGAIN
FATHER: Christopher Anderson/45/Works with the Ministry
MOTHER: Bethany Anderson/43/Former stay at home mom (Whereabouts: Unknown)
SIBLINGS: None
OTHER FAMILY: His aunt on his father's side, Tina Anderson, that he never met. Christopher tells her everything, even though she doesn't live close. They communicate by letter. Tina is relevant because it's her that sends him new clothes, brooms, and other school supplies. Max still hasn't met her, and still doesn't know her name. She never signs letters or packages, and she remains anonymous "So that Max can believe it is his mother if he so chooses".
SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS: Considering that he spent all the money he took from his father's safe and now he's only income is the money he gets working weekends at Florish & Blotts? I'd say he's pretty poor.
HISTORY OVERVIEW:
Max was born to a wizard and a witch, both of his parents' families of the Slytherin house. His father, Christopher Anderson, had wanted a nice house where his wife, Bethany Anderson, raised and taught the son the things needed to grow up a proper wizard and to home school Max so they wouldn't need to send him to the awful muggle school to learn "lies and unnecessary shit". Well, he got his wish. Bethany became a stay at home mom while Christopher traveled the globe for the benefit of the Ministry. Max only saw his father on the times he was off, which was only three to five days every two weeks (he now suspects that his father had been cheating on his mother and that's why he was gone so long) and at most, ten days out of a month. This did not promote a very good father-son relationship, but it did develop a son who was very attached to his mother.
Whenever Max's father would come home, everything in the house would become more stressful. Breakfast became scheduled, and so did lunch and dinner. Max was given an specific amount of time to play, (about one hour after each meal), and the rest of the time his father pounded rules, guides, knowledge, rants, and things of the like into his young son's head. Bethany was not allowed to interrupt, or Christopher would begin to yell, which would scare young Max and cause him to break out in tears, which only ended in him getting yelled at and sent to his room without dinner for "being a pussy". His mother snuck food to him after Christopher fell asleep in his chair, but it was a difficult time for Max whenever his father was home.
Which leads to his best memory, the first Christmas that his father wasn't home. (Since Christopher had holidays off, usually). Max's father had finished whatever it was he'd been assigned to do, but he finished it late. He'd ended up not being able to travel thanks to an awful snow storm, but it lead to a wonderful Christmas between Max and his mother, (his best memory).
Nothing really changed in the years that followed, except somewhere along the lines Christopher had begun drinking and had started to hit Max's mother. Max didn't know what upset him more, the fact that his father was hitting his mother, or the fact that whenever he hit her, Max was not there to stop him. But Bethany could only be pushed so far before she up and left, leaving Max and Christopher both. (Max doesn't know if she died or if she's just too ashamed to talk to him, and which one he believes depends on if he's angry or upset.) Max's father disappeared a few days after she left, and when he returned he came home drunk, resulting in Max's worst memory. That was the night he decided that he didn't need his father or his mother and he would start living for himself. He began reading cookbooks and anything he could get his hands on, trying to teach himself how to stop being dependent on the person who brings in the money, but it wasn't possible because he wouldn't be able to buy food to fix or a place to stay or any of the things a person needs to survive. He did learn how to run off for a day or two (whenever his father was home), though, even if he had to keep going back to the house because he had nowhere else to go.
Well, he didn't have anywhere to go until he got the letter. That had been something he remembered his mother talking about. How she couldn't wait for her baby boy to finally inherit his wizarding skills. He hadn't realized he'd been using magic, (oh, like that time he told the snake that this was his camp for the night and that the snake should go or stuff like that.) But he was glad his dad was gone on one of his week to two week long departures. Once he got the letter, he packed up everything, took all the money out of the 'family' safe, and left (including the unicorn his mother gave him on during his best memory, though he'd swear until he was blue in the face that it got thrown out a long time ago).
There had been enough money in that safe to buy him all the things he needed as well as to have a little bit extra, which he kept absolutely hidden (along with the toy unicorn) so no one would ever find it. As relieved as Max was to finally be out of the house and somewhere else, he wasn't completely happy. He looked at the four houses and hated them, even Slytherin, for that was the house his parents had come from. But he had to go with which house he hated less, which meant the people who would not drive him as crazy as the others, and Slytherin had been the only place that the Sorting Hat could put him.
The really strange thing, though, was whenever he needed something, it always came in the mail. There was always a card in a somewhat swirly writing that said "To: Max Anderson" on it, and it was never signed. Max never recognized the writing, but he never turned down the items inside the mail, box, package, or whatever. It was just puzzling to know who it was from. So he made his way through the years and got a job as soon as he was able. Luckily, not many people wanted to work at a book store, so weekends only was actually an option.

YOURNAME: Silver
YOURAGE: 17
YOURTIMEZONE: United States Eastern Time...I think? I'm on the Eastern coast, so...
YOUREXPERIENCE: About a year now.
YOUROTHERCHARS: None
YOURSAMPLE: (From another site)Max couldn't decide if he slept well, or if he'd slept horribly.
When he was asleep, he slept great. It was all the little points of semi-awakeness throughout the night that had sucked. And it wasn't the usual nightmare that caused his unrestfulness. Those had been oddly missing from the sleeping hours. No, he'd woken up periodically through the night because there was someone next to him. Not that having Sir beside him was a bad thing or anything, it was just... Different. So. What exactly did it have to do with him waking up?
Well, the only thing that he could guess was that he was going against all he'd ever done, been, or believed in. Maybe it was his body's way of saying, "You're not supposed to be here." And it was trying to wake him up and get him to go, but he hadn't left. After all, it wasn't like waking up throughout the night was new to him anyway, and he'd rather wake up because of Sir than wake up because of whatever his subconscious mind came up with to show him.
And because of these lovely little moments where he'd wake up for no apparent reason other than he was going against the natural order of his life by staying put, Max had been up for a decent bit of time, maybe twenty minutes. He hated that he was up, would've gone back to sleep if the sun would just stick itself behind a cloud for a few minutes. But no. No, the sun had no intention of cooperating today, just like it didn't want to cooperate on any other day. And so he laid there, next to the guy that he'd confessed his feelings to. Damn it. He knew he'd done it then, but it hit him now. He really wish he hadn't done that. Max, after all, was not designed to feel anything but anger and the universe was going to remind him of that soon. Of that he was certain. Before long, something was going to happen to teach him the consequences of rebelling against the natural order of the way things happened in his life. Like the waves. They did what they did, and even if you fought them, you'd probably end up drowning. You had to go with the force of nature, not fight against it. Although, Max figured one would drown either way. Oh, wow. That was kinda depressing.
So maybe it made sense then that he couldn't just get up and walk away form the fact that, yes, he did in fact feel this way for Sir. Even if he wasn't supposed to. So Max feeling this way was what was going against nature, but emotions are natural, right? So was Nature fighting herself through Max, and he was just going to receive the consequences? Too much thinking. He'd always relied on just doing what he felt like, so he might as well keep doing just that. After all, wasn't the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it?". At least, that's what he had heard and what he was going to do now. He was going to stay.
Upon making that decision, Osirus showed signs of being awake and Max shoved all of those confusing thoughts to the back of his mind. Without the complicated thoughts to fall back on, default Max, normal Max, showed again. Meaning? Max looked at Osirus with a very focused look for a few minutes, as if contemplating, the whole while knowing just what he wanted to say.
